Invoices and billing details

Our payment provider issues your invoices and receipts. Find invoices under Account → Billing → Invoices, and change the details they show about you in the billing portal.

Invoices

Invoices lists every charge made for your account: plan fees, usage and prorated plan changes. Each row shows the invoice number, date, amount and status:

StatusMeaning
PaidThe payment went through.
DueWaiting for payment.
Past dueThe payment failed and is overdue. See Payment failed.
CanceledThe invoice was canceled.

Download PDF fetches a paid invoice with an amount. A period that cost $0 has no invoice. Past invoices are also in the billing portal, under Manage billing.

Receipts

Our payment provider emails a receipt for every payment. We don't send separate receipts.

Usage on your invoice

Usage is metered by the hour and charged with your monthly renewal, after the month ends, not mid-month. The Billing page shows when. Your renewal invoice then has:

  • Your plan's monthly fee, on a line of its own, when you are on a plan.
  • A line for each kind of usage and its month, such as load balancers, Kubernetes workers by size, and Kubernetes storage. A highly available cluster's extra cost is part of its Kubernetes workers.

This month on the Billing page shows the same usage as it happens, at list prices, grouped into Load balancers, Kubernetes workers and Kubernetes storage. It is an estimate without tax: the invoice is the actual amount, with tax, proration and your currency.

Billing details

Your billing address is needed for tax and invoices. Until your billing profile is complete, the Billing page shows a Billing address section: country, state or region, city, address and postal code. Saving it completes your billing profile.

Manage billing opens the billing portal, where you change your billing address, company name and tax ID (VAT or GST number). They appear on future invoices. The portal link works for a short time: if it expires, open it again from the Billing page.

Refunds

Refunds follow our Refund Policy:

  • The first payment of a plan is refunded in full if you ask within 14 days.
  • Renewals and usage are not refunded, except for billing errors and charges caused by a fault on our side.
  • To ask, write to [email protected] within 30 days of the charge, with the invoice number. We answer within 5 business days.
  • Refunds go back to the original payment method.
